Oak, Rustic Natural edged bowl
Oak Burl Bowl,
Rustic Natural bowl
7 1/2 inches diameter x 4 inches high.

This is a burl from a humongous oak that grew in front of a friend's house.  The tree, while not
extremely tall, was very large in diameter at it's base.  The tree had been standing dead for
over a year, so the wood was already beginning to dry and not showing the characteristic red

.Red Oak or Champion Oak, Quercus rubra (syn. Quercus borealis), is an oak in the red oak
group (Quercus section Lobatae). It is a native of North America, in the northeastern United
States and southeast Canada. In forests, the northern red oak grows straight and tall, to 115 ft
tall, with a trunk of up to 3 or 4 ft diameter; open-grown trees do not get so tall, but can
develop a stouter trunk, up to 6 ft in diameter.

This piece of wood was twisted and irregular, with inclusions and voids that give it a very
unique and unusual shape and form.  I think this is a striking piece of wood that would grace
and add tremendously to any home decor.
