Upon exposure after being cut, the wood will change from a dark brown to a deep purple. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light darkens the wood to a brown color with a slight hue of the original purple. This effect can be minimized with a finish containing a UV inhibitor. This mill is finished with a polyurethane finish that has some inhibitor properties. Pau Amarello or Yellowheart, is a yellow exotic wood used predominately as a craftwood, cabinets, furniture, flooring and decorative turnings, particularly in inlays when a colour contrast is desired.
