These fun, hand turned, little Kaleidoscopes are about 2-3/4 inch in length by approx 1-1/2 inch diameter and sparkle with
color and changing patterns.

2 1/2" High X 1 3/4" Diameter
Colorwood is manufactured of layers of dyed hardwood
veneers pressed together under very high pressure.  The
veneers can then be cut at an angle across the grain to
create a unique looping pattern, or cut straight with the
grain to create the "eyes" as seen on this piece.  
Colorwood are produced in many varieties of colors    
Colorwood is drilled, turned and finished the same as
natural wood.
The egg cup is turned from the same wood blank as the
kaleidoscope

The egg is 2 1/2" High x 1 3/4" Diameter
Maple (Acer saccharum)Spalting is a dark vein caused by a
pattern of bacterial rot in dead wood that once stabalized
often looks like a black ink line of varying thickness and
great irregularity drawn through the wood.

TELLICO RIVER BIRCH
Natural wood mini egg kaleidoscope
2 1/2" High x 1 3/4" Diameter
Birch (Betula alleghaniensis) American birch, Birch, Gray
birch, Silver birch, Swamp birch, and Yellow birch.  This
piece of wood was found on a river beach and appeared
to have been part of a beaver dam.  It has some fantastic
grain lines throughout the egg.
The egg stand is also from the same river birch.

Padauk: (Pterocarpus soyauxii) (Mbe, Mbil, Mututi, Ngula,
Bosulu) Medium to hard wood, heartwood is deep orange
red that will age to a deeper orange brown.  From Africa;
Cameroon, Zaire, Angola, Congo, Equatorial Guinea,
Gabon and Nigeria.

Thuya Burl: (Tetraclinis articulata) A golden reddish
brown wood with heavy small dark 'eyes'. A native wood
of Morocco this is a hard, heavy and slightly aromatic
wood.  The wood is rare and expensive.

Elm, American (Ulmus americana) (American elm, Elm, Florida
elm, Soft elm, Swamp elm, Water elm, and White elm) Elm
wood is commonly used for crates, barrels, plywood, pallets,
veneer, mill work, machinery, factory floors, and wheels. The
American Elm was formerly found throughout the US and
Canada. The formerly common and decorative tree is dying out
as a result of the Dutch Elm disease.

Siricote) Spectacular background
colors of dark brown to red with
multicolored stripes that vary from
yellow to orange to dark brown.   This
wood is sometimes called Mexican
Rosewood and is somewhat hard to
find.  A native wood of Central
America, Mexico, parts of the
Caribbean and Jamaica.
